Vintage Radar Run Participant Information

Welcome to Vintage Snowmobile Racing! Where else in Minocqua can you watch the fastest vintage sleds, built for straight-line and oval racing, with your family and friends? Right here in beautiful Minocqua at Area 31, a former Yamaha® snowmobile secret testing site. The Minocqua Forest Riders (MFR) will host Radar Runs for 12 classes of vintage snowmobiles (1985 or older) on February 21, 2026.

ELIGIBILITY: All restored and non-restored snowmobiles from 1985 and earlier are eligible to participate for the vintage class. Tethers are not required. 

TRACK DETAILS: A plowed and groomed 500’ snow-covered track, from start line to finish, along with a 1,000’ shut-down area is planned. 

REGISTRATION: All vintage radar run participants must stop at the registration table to complete registration forms, sign waivers and pay the entrance fee.  

COST:  $10.00 per run or 3 runs for $20.00. Cash only. ATM Machine on-site.

AWARDS: Trophies will be awarded in each class for the 1st and 2nd fastest speeds.

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Any person who is born on or after Jan. 1, 1985, and who has reached the age of 12, must have completed and received a snowmobile safety certificate in order to operate a snowmobile in Wisconsin. The certificate must be presented when registering and completing a waiver document the day of the event. If the driver is under age 18, the waiver form must be signed by a parent or guardian in order to race. 

Vintage Radar Run Classes

F/A Fan Stock Division

  1. 0-300 cc
  2. 301-340 cc
  3. 341-440 cc
  4. 441 cc & Higher 

Liquid Stock Division

  1. 0-340 cc
  2. 341-440 cc
  3. 441 cc & Higher

Stock is defined as: 

  • Original equipment as sled was sold from the factory.
  • Original Clutches, but weights and springs are up to you.
  • Pipes/cans: Original number that came with sled and no modifications or tuned pipes.
  • Carbs: Original number and size that came with sled. Jetting is up to you.
  • Traction products are allowed.

Modified Division

  1. 0-300 cc
  2. 301-340 cc
  3. 341-440 cc
  4. 441-600 cc
  5. 601 cc & Higher

Retro-Mod Division

  • No engine size limitations

Modified is defined as:
Both the chassis and the motor need to be produced by a snowmobile manufacturer prior to the 1986 model year. All other modifications are allowed in this class.

Auto/trailer parking for racers and showcase participants will be available. Please consider using your smallest trailer as space is limited. Spectator (snowmobile/auto) parking will also be available. We would like to encourage you to RIDE-IN to the day's event. There is likely to be heavy traffic on Trail D off of Trail 10 west – so please ride right, watch for traffic, and ride at a safe speed on these trails. All parking is free.
